Een Manam Ya Rab Ke Andar Noor-e-Haq Fani Shudam: Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti
The Dawn of Divine Grace
Een Manam Ya Rab Ke Andar Noor-e-Haq Fani Shudam
Matla-e-Anwar-e-Faiz-e-Zaat-e-Subhani Shudam
O Lord! Is it I, who has become annihilated in the Light of Truth?
I have become the dawning-place for the radiant grace of the Divine Essence.
The Radiance of the Lord
Zarra Zarra Az Wujoodam Taalib-e-Deedar Gasht
Ta Ke Man Mast Az Tajalli-ha-e-Rabbani Shudam
Every atom of my existence became a seeker of the Vision;
Until I became intoxicated by the majestic splendors of the Lord.
Awareness of Hidden Secrets
Zang-e-Ghairat Ra Ze Mir’aat-e-Dilam Bazdood Ishq
Ta Ba-Kulli Waqif-e-Asrar-e-Pinhani Shudam
Love wiped away the rust of “otherness” from the mirror of my heart;
Until I became fully aware of the most hidden spiritual secrets.
Escaping the Darkness of Ego
Man Chunan Beroon Shudam Az Zulmat-e-Hasti-e-Khwesh
Ta Ze Noor-e-Hasti-e-Oo Aanke Mi Dani Shudam
I emerged so completely from the darkness of my own existence;
That through the Light of His Existence, I became “that which you know.”
The Fire of Divine Love
Gar Ze Dood-e-Nafs-e-Zulmat Paak Boodam Sokhta
Ze Imtizaaj-e-Aatish-e-Ishq-e-Tu Noorani Shudam
Though I was burnt by the smoke of the dark ego, I am now purified;
By blending with the fire of Your love, I have become luminous.
Divine Ease in the Journey
Khalq Mi Guftand Keen Rah Ra Ba-Dushwari Rawand
Ay Afak-Allah Ke Man Bare Ba-Aasani Shudam
People said that this path is traveled with great difficulty;
But by God’s grace, I traveled it with total ease.
The Christ-like Inspiration
Dam Ba-Dam Rooh-ul-Quds Andar Mu’eeni Mi Damad
Man Na-Mi Danam Magar Isa-e-Sani Shudam
Moment by moment, the Holy Spirit breathes into Moin;
I know not, but perhaps I have become a second Jesus.

Insight: The Transition from ‘I’ to ‘He’
This Ghazal is a textbook example of Fana-fi-Allah. Khwaja Gharib Nawaz describes how Love (Ishq) acts as a solvent that dissolves the “rust” of the human ego. When the “darkness of self” (Zulmat-e-hasti) is removed, the soul becomes a mirror for the Divine Presence. The final reference to Isa-e-Sani highlights the Sufi belief that when a man is fully emptied of himself, God speaks and acts through him, granting him “Christ-like” transformative power.
