This Persian Naat by Bu Ali Qalandar is a profound expression of devotion to the Holy Prophet ﷺ. In “Ae Sanayat Rahmat lil Alameen,” the poet highlights the cosmic status of the Prophet ﷺ, describing even the Archangel Gabriel as a beggar at his door of grace. The Kalam moves through themes of divine beauty and the primordial honor bestowed upon the Prophet ﷺ by God, concluding with the Qalandari signature of finding no better occupation for the heart than the recitation of Salutations and Praise.
Ae Sanayat Rahmat-lil-Alameen
Yak Gada-e-Faiz-e-Tu Rooh-ul-Ameen
O you whose praise is “Mercy to the Worlds”;
A single beggar of your grace is the Trustworthy Spirit (Gabriel).
Ae Ke Naamat Ra Khuda-e-Zuljalal
Zad Raqam Bar Jabba-e-Arsh-e-Bareen
O you whose name the Lord of Majesty;
Has inscribed upon the forehead of the Sublime Throne.
Aastan-e-Aali-e-Tu Be-Misal
Aasmaney Hast Baala-e-Zameen
Your exalted threshold is without any likeness;
It is a heaven situated upon the earth.
Aafreen Bar Aalam-e-Husn-e-Tu Baad
Mubtalaye Tust Aalam-e-Aafreen
Blessed be the realm of your beauty;
Even the Creator of the worlds is enamored by you.
Yak Kaf-e-Paak Az Dar-e-Pur-Noor-e-Oo
Hast Mara Behtar Az Taj-o-Nageen
A single handful of pure dust from his radiant door;
Is better for me than any crown or royal gem.
Kharman-e-Faiz-e-Tura Ae Abr-e-Faiz
Hum Zameen-o-Hum Zaman Shud Khosha Cheen
From the harvest of your grace, O cloud of bounty;
Both the earth and time itself have become gleaners.
Az Jamal-e-Tu Hamay Beenum Masa
Jalwa Dar Aaina-e-Ain-ul-Yaqeen
Through your beauty, I witness at every evening;
The manifestation within the mirror of absolute certainty.
Khalq Ra Aaghaz-o-Anjam Az Tu Hast
Ae Imam-e-Awwalin-o-Aakhirin
The beginning and end of creation are from you;
O Leader of the first and the last!
Ghair-e-Salat-o-Salam-o-Naat-e-Tu
Bu Ali Ra Neest Zikr-e-Dilnasheen
Other than the Salutations, Peace, and your Praise;
There is no soul-stirring remembrance for Bu Ali.
