جس دم تھا رگ و پے کا ہر ریشہ تماشا مست
اس عالم حیرت میں وہ یار ہوا معلوم
Jis Dam Tha Rag-o-Pay Ka Har Resha Tamasha Mast
Is Aalam-e-Hairat Mein Woh Yaar Huwa Maloom
When every fiber of my being was intoxicated by the spectacle—
In that world of wonder (Hairat), the Friend became known.
ہر حال میں دل خاور، با یار رہے با کار
ساز دل غافل تو بے تار ہوا معلوم
Har Haal Mein Dil Khawar, Ba-Yaar Rahay Ba-Kaar
Saaz-e-Dil-e-Ghafil To Be-Taar Huwa Maloom
In every state, Khawar, may the heart remain with the Friend and in His work
For the instrument of a heedless heart is found to be stringless.
The World of Hairat (Wonder)
Khawar Soharwardy explores the concept of Aalam-e-Hairat (The World of Wonder). In Sufism, wonder is a station where the seeker is so overwhelmed by the Divine presence in everything that speech fails.
The poet beautifully states that the Vision of the Beloved (Deedar) is entirely dependent on the Will of the Dildar (Beloved). One may see Him hidden in veils or face-to-face, but it is the Deeda-e-Batin (Inner Eye) that recognizes His splendor in “every object” (Har shay).
