“Kaash Meri Jabeen e Shouq Sajdoon Se Sarfaraz Ho” is a masterpiece of spiritual devotion and humility by the legendary Sufi poet Bedam Shah Warsi. In this Kalam, the poet expresses a profound desire to surrender his ego at the threshold of the Divine Beloved. Below, you will find the complete Urdu text, Roman transliteration, and English translation.
Kaash Meri Jabeen-e-Shouq Sajdoon Se Sarfaraz Ho
Yaar Ki Khaak-e-Aastaan Taaj-e-Sar-e-Niyaz Ho
Would that my forehead of longing be honored with prostrations;
May the dust of the Beloved’s threshold become the crown of my humble head.
Hum Ko Bhi Paayemaal Kar Umr Teri Daraaz Ho
Mast-e-Kharaam-e-Naaz Idhar Mashq-e-Kharaam-e-Naaz Ho
Trample me underfoot as well, and may your life be long;
Let your graceful, intoxicated gait be practiced here upon my heart.
Chashm-e-Haqiqat Aashna Dekhe Jo Husn Ki Kitaab
Daftar-e-Sad Hadith-e-Raaz Har Waraq-e-Majaaz Ho
When the eye acquainted with Truth gazes at the Book of Beauty;
Every page of the physical world becomes a volume of a hundred secret traditions.
Saamne Roo-e-Yaar Ho Sajda Mein Ho Sar-e-Niyaz
Yunhi Hareem-e-Naaz Mein Aathon Pahar Namaz Ho
With the face of the Beloved before me and my humble head in prostration;
Thus, in the sanctuary of grace, may my prayer continue through all eight watches.
Is Ke Hareem-e-Naaz Mein Aql-o-Khird Ko Dakhl Kya
Jis Ki Gali Ki Khaak Ka Zarra Jahan-e-Raaz Ho
What role do intellect and wisdom have in His sanctuary of grace?
Where every speck of dust in His street is a universe of divine mysteries.
Teri Gali Mein Paa Ke Jaa, Jaaye Kahan Tera Gada
Kyun Na Woh Be-Niyaz Ho Tujh Se Jise Niyaz Ho
Having found a place in Your street, where else would Your beggar go?
Why should he not be carefree of the world, who is devoted only to You?
Bedam-e-Khasta Hijr Mein Ban Gayi Jaan-e-Zaar Par
Jis Ne Diya Hai Dard-e-Dil Kaash Woh Chaara Saaz Ho
O weary Bedam, in separation, life has become a burden on this wretched soul;
Would that the One who gave this heartache also becomes the Healer.
