“Dil Mein Ho Yaad Teri” is a crown jewel of Zauq-e-Naat by Maulana Hasan Raza Khan. This masterpiece explores the mysteries of solitude (Khalwat) and spiritual vision. Presented here is the complete 15-couplet verified version—a rarity online—with full English translations and thematic links.
The Gathering of Solitude
Dil Mein Ho Yaad Teri Gosha-e-Tanhai Ho
Phir To Khalwat Mein Ajab Anjuman Aarai Ho
May your remembrance reside in my heart, and a corner of solitude be mine;
Then, in that seclusion, a wondrous assembly shall be manifest.
Aastaan Pe Tere Sar Ho Ajal Aayi Ho
Aur Ay Jaan-e-Jahan Tu Bhi Tamashayi Ho
May my head be at your threshold when death arrives;
And O Soul of the Universe (ﷺ), may you be the one beholding my end.
The Life-Giving Dust
Khak-e-Paamaal Ghareebon Ko Na Kyun Zinda Karay
Jis Ke Daaman Ki Hawa Baad-e-Maseehayi Ho
Why should the trodden dust not bring the humble poor back to life;
When the breeze from your blessed cloak possesses the life-giving power of the Messiah?
Is Ki Qismat Pe Fida Takht-e-Shahi Ki Rahat
Khak-e-Taybah Pe Jisay Chain Ki Neend Aayi Ho
The comforts of the royal throne are sacrificed for his destiny;
Who finds a peaceful sleep upon the sacred dust of Madinah.
Royalty at the Threshold
Taj Walon Ki Yeh Khwahish Hai Ke Un Ke Dar Par
Hum Ko Hasil Sharaf-e-Nasiya Farsai Ho
It is the ultimate wish of those wearing worldly crowns;
That they be granted the honor of rubbing their foreheads at your door.
Ik Jhalak Dekhne Ki Taab Nahin Aalam Ko
Woh Agar Jalwa Karein Kaun Tamashayi Ho
The world does not have the strength to behold even a single glimpse;
If he were to manifest his full radiance, who would have the power to witness it?
The Shroud of Grace
Aaj Jo Aaib Kisi Par Nahin Khulne Dete
Kab Woh Chahein Ge Meri Hashar Mein Ruswai Ho
He who does not allow even a single fault of anyone to be revealed today;
How would he ever wish for my disgrace on the Day of Resurrection?
Kyun Karein Shama-e-Shabistan-e-Jinan Ki Khwahish
Jalwa-e-Yaar Jo Shama-e-Shab-e-Tanhai Ho
Why should I desire the lamps of the bedchambers of Paradise;
When the radiance of the Beloved is the lamp of my night of solitude?
Khilat-e-Maghfirat Is Ke Liye Rehmat Laye
Jis Ne Khak-e-Dar-e-Shah Jaye Kafan Paayi Ho
The robe of forgiveness brings mercy to that person;
Who has found the dust of the King’s threshold in place of a burial shroud.
The Matchless One
Yahi Manzoor Tha Qudrat Ko Ke Saya Na Banay
Aise Yakta Ke Liye Aisi Hi Yaktayi Ho
This alone was the intent of Divine Power—that no shadow be formed;
For such a peerless one (ﷺ), such uniqueness was only fitting.
Zikr-e-Khuddam Nahin Mujh Ko Bata Dein Dushman
Koi Ni’mat Bhi Kisi Aur Se Gar Paayi Ho
I speak not of his close servants; let the enemies tell me—
If they have ever received any blessing from anyone other than him!
The Final Vision
Jab Uthein Dast-e-Ajal Se Meri Hasti Ka Hijab
Kaash Is Parda Ke Andar Teri Zebayi Ho
When the hand of death lifts the veil of my existence;
I pray that within that curtain, your beauty (ﷺ) is revealed.
Dekhein Jaan-Bakhshi-e-Lub Ko To Kahein Khidr-o-Maseeh
Kyun Maray Koi Agar Aisi Maseehayi Ho
When they witness the life-bestowing power of your lips, Khidr and the Messiah would exclaim:
“Why should anyone ever die, if such healing exists?”
The Ever-Flowing Grace
Kabhi Aisa Na Huwa, Un Ke Karam Ke Sadqay
Haath Ke Phailne Se Pehle Na Bheek Aayi Ho
It has never occurred—by the grace of his generosity;
That the alms did not arrive even before the hand was stretched out.
Band Jab Khwab-e-Ajal Se Hon Hasan Ki Aankhein
Is Ki Nazron Mein Tera Jalwa-e-Zebayi Ho
When the eyes of Hasan are closed by the sleep of death;
May your radiant beauty be the only sight before his vision.

“Jaan Hain Woh Jahaan Ki”
Hasan’s address to the ‘Jaan-e-Jahan’ mirrors Alahazrat’s famous line, affirming that the Prophet ﷺ is the animating spirit of the entire universe.
“Haath Ke Phailne Se Pehle…”
Hasan’s verse on receiving charity before asking is a direct spiritual echo of his brother Alahazrat’s famous ‘Wah Kia Jood-o-Karam’.
“Lahd Mein Wo Surat Dikhai Gai Hai”
The prayer of Hasan for a ‘Zebayi’ vision in death is beautifully mirrored in Pir Naseer’s ecstatic declaration of the vision in the grave.
“Na Karo Juda Khuda Ra…”
The longing to die at the ‘Aastaan’ (Threshold) connects Hasan’s petition to Bedam Warsi’s ultimate plea for sanctuary.
