“Ahinno Shoqan Ila Dayar” is a soul-stirring Munajaat (spiritual supplication) by the master poet Maulana Abdur Rehman Jami. أحن شوقاً إلى ديار لقيت فيها جمال سلمی
که می رساند از آن نواحی نویدِ لطفی به جانبِ ما
Ahinno Shoqan Ila Dayar-in Laqeetu Feeha Jamal-e-Salma
Ke Mi Rasanad Az Aan Nawahi Naveed-e-Lutfi Ba Janib-e-Ma
I yearn with longing for the abode where I beheld the beauty of Salma;
Who will bring from those regions the tidings of grace to our side?
بوادیِ غم منم فتاده، زمامِ فِکرت ز دست داده
نه بخت یاور، نه عقل رہبر، نه تن توانا، نه دل شکیبا
Ba Wadi-e-Gham Manam Futada, Zamam-e-Fikrat Ze Dast Dada
Na Bakht Yawar, Na Aql Rahbar, Na Tan Tawana, Na Dil Shakeeba
I have fallen into the valley of grief, the reins of thought have slipped from my hand;
Neither is fortune a helper, nor intellect a guide; neither is the body strong, nor the heart patient.
زهی جمالِ تو قبلهٔ جان، حریمِ کوی تو کعبهٔ دل
فإن سُجدنا إلیك نسجد، و إن سعینا إلیك نسعى
Zahi Jamal-e-To Qibla-e-Jan, Hareem-e-Kuye To Kaaba-e-Dil
Fa In Sajadna Ilaika Nasjud, Wa In Sa-ayna Ilaika Nas’aa
How wondrous is your beauty, the Qibla of the soul! The sanctuary of your street is the Kaaba of the heart;
If we prostrate, we prostrate to You; and if we strive, we strive towards You.
ز سِرِّ عشقِ تو بود ساکن زبانِ اربابِ شوق لیکن
زبی زبانی غمِ نهانی چنانکه دانی شد آشکارا
Ze Sirr-e-Ishq-e-To Buwad Sakin Zaban-e-Arbab-e-Shoq Lekin
Ze Be-Zabani Gham-e-Nihani Chunanki Dani Shud Ashkara
The tongues of the masters of longing were silent due to the secret of your love;
Yet through this wordlessness, the hidden grief became manifest, as You well know.
بُکت عیُونيِ علی شیوني، فساء حالي، و لا أباليِ
که دانم آخر طبیبِ وصلت مریضِ خود را کند مداوا
Bakat Uyuni Ala Shiyuni, Fa-sa’a Haali Wa La Ubaali
Ke Danam Aakhir Tabib-e-Waslat Mareez-e-Khud Ra Kunad Mudawa
My eyes wept over my lamentations, my state became dire, yet I care not;
For I know that ultimately, the Physician of Union will cure His patient.
اگر به جورم برآوری جان و گر به تیغم بیفگنی سر
قسم به جانت که برندارم سرِ ارادت ز خاکِ آن پا
Agar Ba Joram Bar-avari Jan Wa Gar Ba Tegham Bi-afgani Sar
Qasam Ba Janat Ke Bar-nadaram Sar-e-Iradat Ze Khak-e-Aan Pa
Even if You take my life in severity, or strike my head with a sword;
I swear by your life, I shall not lift the head of devotion from the dust of those feet.
به ناز گفتی فلان، کجایی؟ چه بود حالت درین جدایی
مرضت ُشوقاً، و مِت هجراً، فکیف أشكوا إلیك شکوہ
Ba Naz Gufti Fulan, Kujayi? Che Buwad Halat Dareen Judayi
Maridtu Shoqan, Wa Mittu Hijran, Fakayfa Ashku Ilaika Shakwa
With a playful charm You asked: “Where are you? How was your state in this separation?”
I fell ill with longing and died of separation—so how can I even utter a complaint to You?
بر آستانت کمینه جامیٓ مجال بودن ندید ازآن رو
به کنجِ فرقت نشست محزون، به کوی محنت گرفت ماوا
Bar Astanat Kamina Jami Majal-e-Budan Nadeed Az Aan Roo
Ba Kunj-e-Furqat Nishast Mahzoon, Ba Kuye Mihnat Girift Maawa
The humble Jami found no strength to remain at Your Threshold;
Thus he sat sorrowful in the corner of separation, making his home in the street of toil.
