کبھی اے حقیقت منتظر ، نظر آ لباسِ مجاز میں
کہ ہزاروں سجدے تڑپ رہے ہیں مری جبینِ نیاز میں
For once, O awaited Reality, reveal Yourself in a form material,
For a thousand prostrations are quivering eagerly in my submissive brow
تو بچا بچا کہ نہ رکھ اسے ، ترا آئینہ ہے وہ آئینہ
جو شکستہ ہو تو عزیز تر ہے نگاہِ آئینہ ساز میں
Do not try to protect it, your mirror is the mirror
Which would be dearer in the Maker’s eye if it is broken
نہ وہ عشق میں رہیں گرمیاں، نہ وہ حسن میں رہیں شوخیاں
نہ وہ غزنوی میں تڑپ رہی، نہ وہ خم ہے زلفِ ایاز میں
My dark misdeeds found no refuge in the wide world
The only refuge they found was in Your Gracious Forgiveness
جو میں سربسجدہ ہوا کبھی ، تو زمیں سے آنے لگی صدا
تیرا دل تو ہے صنم آشنا، تجھے کیا ملے گا نماز میں
Even as I laid down my head in prostration a cry arose from the ground:
Your heart is in materialism, no rewards for your prayers are.
