“Kabhi Aye Haqeeqat-e-Muntazir” is perhaps the most famous Ghazal from Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s first Urdu collection, Bang-e-Dra. کبھی اے حقیقتِ منتظر نظر آ لباسِ مجاز میں
کہ ہزاروں سجدے تڑپ رہے ہیں مری جبینِ نیاز میں

Kabhi Aye Haqeeqat-e-Muntazir, Nazar Aa Libas-e-Majaz Mein
Ke Hazaron Sajday Tarap Rahay Hain Meri Jabeen-e-Niaz Mein

For once, O awaited Reality, reveal Yourself in a material form,
For a thousand prostrations are quivering eagerly in my submissive brow.

تو بچا بچا کے نہ رکھ اسے، ترا آئینہ ہے وہ آئینہ
کہ شکستہ ہو تو عزیز تر ہے نگاہِ آئینہ ساز میں

Tu Bacha Bacha Ke Na Rakh Isay, Tera Aaina Hai Woh Aaina
Ke Shikasta Ho To Aziz Tar Hai Nigah-e-Aaina Saaz Mein

Do not try to protect it; Your mirror (the heart) is that mirror,
Which is held dearer in the Maker’s eye if it were broken.

نہ وہ عشق میں رہیں گرمیاں، نہ وہ حسن میں رہیں شوخیاں
نہ وہ غزنوی میں تڑپ رہی، نہ وہ خم ہے زلفِ ایاز میں

Na Woh Ishq Mein Raheen Garmiyan, Na Woh Husn Mein Raheen Shokhiyan
Na Woh Ghaznavi Mein Tarap Rahi, Na Woh Kham Hai Zulf-e-Ayaz Mein

Neither that warmth remains in Love, nor that playfulness in Beauty;
Neither is there that longing in Ghaznavi, nor that curl in the locks of Ayaz.

جو میں سر بسجدہ ہوا کبھی تو زمیں سے آنے لگی صدا
ترا دل تو ہے صنم آشنا، تجھے کیا ملے گا نماز میں

Jo Main Sar-Ba-Sajda Hua Kabhi, To Zameen Se Aanay Lagi Sada
Tera Dil To Hai Sanam Ashna, Tujhay Kya Milay Ga Namaz Mein
