“Bay Bismillah Ism Allah Da” is a soul-stirring Punjabi Abyaat by the great Hazrat Sultan Bahoo. In this poem, the saint explores the infinite power contained within the ‘B’ of Bismillah and the sacred Name of Allah. It is a testament to the belief that the weight of the Divine Name can carry the entire world to salvation through the intercession of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
Spiritual Echoes: The Sacred Name & Intercession
The themes of Divine Praise and Prophetic Intercession in Bahoo’s work resonate with these masters:
- On the Prophet’s ﷺ Glory: Bahoo’s mention of the “Sarwar-e-Aalam” and the vastness of His creation echoes the Sarapa Naats of Alahazrat.
- On Intercession (Shafa’at): The hope that the whole world will be saved through the Prophet ﷺ is a theme central to the works of Pir Naseer ud Din Naseer.
ب بسم اللہ اسم اللہ دا
ایہہ بھی کہنا بھارا ہُو
نال شفاعت سرور عالمؐ
چھٹسی عالم سارا ہُو
Bay Bismillah ism Allah da
Eh bhi kahna bhara hoo
Naal shafaat Sarwar-e-Aalam
Chutsi aalam saara hoo
With ‘B’ of Bismillah begins the Name of Allah
To even utter this Name is a weighty, blessed task
Through the intercession of the Master of the Universe ﷺ
The entire world shall find its final salvation.
حدوں بے حد درود نبیؐ نوں
جیندا ایڈ پسارا ہُو
میں قربان تنہاں توں باہو
جنہاں ملیا نبی سو ہارا ہُو
Hadoon bay-had darood Nabi noon
Jinda aid pasara hoo
Main qurban tinnan ton Bahoo
Jinnan milya Nabi sohara hoo
Boundless and infinite salutations be upon the Prophet ﷺ
Whose spiritual domain is as vast as existence itself
I sacrifice myself for those, O Bahoo
Who have found the beautiful protection of the Prophet ﷺ.
